A complaint was filed with the Texas Attorney General Office regarding the donation of sick time to the Business Leave Account. The Gov. Code 142.013 (c) states that a police officer may donate not more than two hours for each month of accumulated vacation or compensatory time to the business leave pool. The Code makes no mention of allowing the donation of sick time, only vacation or compensatory time.
We allege the City of Arlington is violating the Gov. Code and have asked the AG for a ruling. We also forward a copy of the complaint to CALEA for them to make their own determination as to whether the City/Police Department is violating CALEA accreditation standards.
